I am a student of
International law program therefore the internship at Minority Rights Group
International in London
was of particular interest to me. This internship at MRG encouraged me to help
and work with particularly vulnerable people such as minorities and indigenous
people.
MRG is the leading
international human rights organization working to secure rights for ethnic,
religious and linguistic minorities and indigenous people around the world. Through
training and education, legal cases, publications and the media, MRG supports
minority and indigenous people as they strive to maintain their rights to the
land they live on, the languages they speak, to equal opportunities in
education and employment, and to full participation in public life.
I am very happy that I
had a chance to work particularly in the Fundraising Department because I was
responsible for performing various types of tasks. I assisted the Head of
Fundraising in developing MRG’s fundraising strategy, including writing funding
applications, identification of potential donors, relationship building with
them, documenting appropriate fundraising procedures, researching on minorities
issues in Uganda and Lebanon and providing general administrative support.
I was fully involved
and integrated in all MRG’s activities and became a real member of its team. MRG
always welcomes interns as they are invaluable assistants in various fields. I
am glad that I was surrounded by such high qualified, clever, talented and
friendly people working within MRG. Therefore every day spent in MRG was a
great experience for me as I was able to learn from these people. I met a lot
of interesting people with whom we became real friends.
I am very grateful for
UNDP Lithuania for such a great internship opportunity. I have no doubts that
all things I have learnt spending these 2,5 months at MRG is invaluable
experience for my future career. This internship strengthened my interest to
work in NGO and promote human rights.
Therefore I really
advice other students to use an opportunity of international internship because
it is great and invaluable experience.
