Livorno BIC
My everyday starts with 30-40min trip to BIC. Even thought Livorno is small city our work place is in Industrial area which is a bit out of town because of this trip to work takes so much time. Despite it bus schedule is really great and there is no problems to reach working place. During my internship I worked with several different projects and tasks was really diversified starting from communication with participants of Summer School and finishing with writing different reports about African countries, target groups and similar which in the end is put into proposal for a project proposal.

Because company is small and is split into different cities and countries communication with supervisors and colleagues is mainly through Skype and e-mail. Despite it communication is really smooth and you always get help if you have some questions.
Finding place to live was rather complicated because in Livorno there is little place to rent for long period as city is mostly industrial. Despite it our local colleague managed to find us apartment in the city centre for a reasonable price.
Livorno is industrial city near the sea which has important sea port. Also city is popular for cruise ships but usually people do not stay long in Livorno and they travel to Pisa (which is less then 20min by train) or Florence. So in the city you meet tourist very rarely. The nearest beach is about 15min by bus from Livorno in city called Tirrenia. Despite it nearby beaches a very well known by tourists and locals as they are very beautiful and clean.

Usually after work were is little free time left and little what to do because buses finish to run at around 20h so it difficult to travel somewhere further also all shops is closing at similar time. Consequently most of my evenings is spent on walking around the city or jogging. In the weekend its a true paradise to travel because Livorno is situated in Tuscan region which is known as the most beautiful region in Italy and is famous with its cities like Pisa, Florence or Siena. Without it region is very well known with its vines, which are one of the best around the world, and seafood. In fish market you can find octopus, giant crabs, sepias, ray and many more exotic fish species which is common in this region. Consequently most of my weekend are booked with travelling or enjoying local food.
Definitely its the greatest journey I ever had both by professional and travelling experiences.
